Harper: 4 months

Growth spurt? Teething? Who knows, but this little girl has been changing her eating/sleeping routine on me. During some of her daytime feedings she will take 6oz. instead of just 4, and other times she's not interested in eating at all. We've had a few different nights where she's woken up numerous times like she's just not tired enough or maybe can't get comfortable. She has also been waking up around 3:30am to eat instead of waiting until 5. She sucks on her hand a lot and drools like it's her job, so I'm guessing she's beginning the teething process early like her big brother did. I just keep checking those gums!

Harper likes: being rocked/cuddled/held, kicking her legs, chewing on EVERYTHING, giggling with Daddy, diaper changes, bath time, lotion after her bath

Harper dislikes: gas bubbles, not being held or talked to, bottles that aren't exactly the right temperature (yes, she's picky!)

Sizes:
diapers- 2
clothes- 6 months, even though the pants are still a bit long

Her next well-visit is about 2 weeks away, and I'm expecting to see some major changes in her height and weight stats. Yes, she's still a baby, but she's looking less and less babyish and more like a chubby little girl. :)

Ryder was putting a pirate sticker on her hand. He loves to share!

"Ryder"isms

Ryder is quite the chatterbox, and he has developed so many new sayings/expressions recently that I had to write them down so that I won't forget!
  • "I do it by MYself." (his emphasis)
  • If he doesn't like something or isn't in the mood for it, he will say, "I can't like that."
  • "Not yet." This has pretty much replaced his "I think so" response.
  • When I tell him to say goodnight to Harper, he says, "I lub you, baby!" and then gives her a big kiss. So sweet!
  • Out of the blue he will give one of us a big hug and say, "I missed my (mommy/daddy)," or, "I lub you."
  • He's learning how to negotiate with us. If he wants to watch Mickey Mouse before bed or have more of a snack, he'll say, "Please just a lil' bit?" He even puts his thumb and pointer close together to gesture a small amount of something.
  • He is really big into sharing his food right now, and he won't take no for an answer. He feeds us bites of his food and then asks, "You like that, Mommy?" or "That's good, Daddy?"
  • "One more kissy, one more huggy!" This is how he dawdles at bedtime, and it's awfully hard to say no!
  • He does NOT like to be called a little boy. He will correct us and say that he's a big boy.
  • If Andrew and I are talking but Ryder wants our attention, he will say, "No, Mommy. No talk to Daddy."
  • Potty-training is underway! If you stop by our house at any given time, you would find a naked little 2-year old running around. He does best using the big boy potty if he doesn't have on a pull-up or underwear. He's only had a few accidents, so we're hopeful it won't take too long before we can say goodbye to diapers!

See the lovely shiner on his face? He had a "close encounter" with the coffee table the other night when trying to hop off of the couch.

Tummy time reader

Harper loves spending time on her quilt on the floor. She hasn't done a complete roll-over yet, but she will lie on her back and roll to the side. She enjoys doing tummy time, especially when propped up on her elbows so she can see what's going on around her. I've started pulling out some of Ryder's old baby toys for her to enjoy now that she can entertain herself for small periods of time.
"Thanks for the book, Mommy."

"Hmph! I've already read this one."

Playing catch-up

I'm cramming an entire week of pictures into this one post, so get ready to scroll!

tummy time with her tongue hanging out!

What an outfit! Mickey Mouse pajama shirt, Buzz Lightyear underwear, and work boots

"Why are you laughing?"

Andrew set up one of his tents the other day for Ryder to play in. I can't tell you how many times we unzipped and zipped the doors!

"Hmmm...what should I do today?"

Last weekend while Harper and I went to a baby shower, Andrew, Ryder, and Alison went to visit Mammy for the afternoon. Alison and Steve then came back to our house for the night so we could celebrate Steve's birthday a few days early.

Mammy always has treats for Ryder. :)

"Daddy, look what I got!"

"Here, Ali, try some!"

Ryder loved playing with the party favor, especially when he blew it in Steve's face!

On Sunday morning we walked over to the playground because the weather was BEAUTIFUL!

climb, climb, climb

Ryder would sit there and go "Weeeee!" as he rocked back and forth. I guess he felt like he was way up high!

Ali hanging like a monkey

Ryder tried to help her get down by pulling on her arm. :)

What an adorable little monster!
