Since the "Blizzards of 2010", we have had a 50-60 foot pine tree precariously arched over the top of our house. Andrew knew it needed to be cut down, but he doesn't have an extension ladder tall enough to reach the roof from that side of the house. And since the tree wasn't touching the roof yet, we thought we could wait a little longer until paying someone to come cut it down. Well, Mother Nature had something else in mind. Yesterday, whether it was the wind (which was nonexistent) or just the stress of being bent for 6 months, the tree finally snapped, leaving the top of the tree lying across our roof. Andrew called on Mike to come over this morning, since I said there was no way he was going to shimmy up the roof with a chain saw by himself--especially since our roof is a 12x12 pitch, which is a 45 degree angle! Mike headed over with a borrowed extension ladder, and Andrew suited up in his safety harness from work and made the climb to the top where he cut off one small piece at a time until the roof was clear. I didn't want to watch, but I snuck outside from time to time to take pictures. No damage to the house, property, Mike, or Andrew! Wheew!
